The Iconic Lagoon Was Actually A Backyard Pool

The lagoon in the show was specifically built in 1964 at CBS’s Studio City, meaning it was basically a backyard pool. Filming there caused so many drawbacks, with the cast and crew often having to stop when the noise of the nearby Freeway on Ventura was heard. Also, the temperature of the water would be freezing in the winter months meaning Denver had to wear a wetsuit under his Gilligan costume. However, in 1995, the lagoon was unfortunately turned into a parking lot!
