LEGO releases new and noteworthy Build-it-Yourself Grand Piano. Once put together, the piano itself stands, when closed, 8.5 inches high,  12” wide, and 13.5” deep. The piano has 25 working keys, both white and black, and can actually be used to play limitless tunes and songs!

Through a project initiated by the LEGO called ‘LEGO Ideas Platform,’ customers and company fans are able to request online specific ideas for new types of LEGO sets.

When Donny Chen, a professional and well-respected pianist, first suggested LEGO create a LEGO grand piano, over 10,000 online voters supported his design idea, and as a result of this mass enthusiasm, LEGO excitedly took on the project.

While the LEGO Grand Piano is almost certainly the most complicated, intricate, and challenging set ever released by the company, rave reviewers cherish the piano as not only a cool LEGO model, but also a beautiful and functioning piece of art; both dynamic and ‘stunning.’

LEGO designer Woon Tze Chee spoke to Forbes Magazine about how important this particular set is to the company, and about how much effort was involved in getting it out on the shelves. It took over 2 years for the team at LEGO to transform Chen’s big idea to blocks, but the final model and product has definitely proven itself worthy of the wait: “We decided to turn (it) into an official LEGO product because of all the amazing functions that were included in the model and because we felt that it really pushes the boundary of what LEGO bricks can do.”

The product itself costs £320 and comes in a box containing small blocks of LEGO pieces, (3,662 to be exact) to be used in the construction. The LEGO buyer must follow a detailed manual in order to put together their instrument. After the instrument is put together, the piano is a wonderful display piece which plays real music just like a real Grand Piano does.

If you are a musician, a collector, an artist, or a builder, the LEGO Grand Piano set is a unique must! Learn more at http://LEGO.COM
