Iconic motorcycle manufacturer Harley-Davidson just launched its new electric bike brand, Serial 1 Cycle Company, with its first product – the “Serial 1” electric bike.
Although more eco-friendly than its older predecessors, the new brand takes its name from the nickname for Harley-Davidson’s first-ever motorcycle, the “Serial Number One,” which was released in 1903.
But the vintage callbacks don’t end there. With the Serial 1 e-bike featuring retro white tires, a cruiser frame, and brown leather on the seat and handlebar grips, the new bike pays homage to the traditional Harley-Davidson style from over a century ago.
Serial 1 Brand Director, Aaron Frank said:
When Harley-Davidson first put power to two wheels in 1903, it changed how the world moved, forever. Inspired by the entrepreneurial vision of Harley-Davidson’s founders, we hope to once again change how cyclists and the cycling-curious move around their world with a Serial 1 eBicycle.
The dynamic, fast-growing e-Bicycle space is at the forefront of a global mobility revolution. The formation of Serial 1 allows Harley-Davidson to play a key role in this mobility revolution while allowing Serial 1 to focus exclusively on the e-Bicycle customer and deliver an unmatched riding experience rooted in freedom and adventure.
With more people looking for ways to spend their increased leisure time as a result of the pandemic and trying to exercise safely, the new e-bike comes at the perfect time. Frank said at a press release announcing the launch:
With the pandemic, people were looking for a safe way to exercise and get out of the house, and people in cities were looking for a way to safely commute that didn’t involve a subway or a bus.
If you have the cash, and the incentive to travel in a more environmentally-friendly way to minimize our impending climate crisis, Serial 1 e-bikes are expected to be released early next year.
