There was always going to be some trouble at the World Cup in Russia and the first incident occurred on Saturday after a taxi in Moscow charged into a crowd of people, injuring eight.
The breathtaking footage shows the moment the taxi suddenly swerves off the road to the right, clattering into a number of people.
The driver, who later labelled the crash an accident, tried to flee the scene before standers-by caught and held him.
Identified as a Kyrgyzstan international, the driver explains what happened in the video and claims to have lost control of the vehicle and mistaken the accelerator for the brake.
This came about after he “dozed off” due to him apparently being at the wheel for 20 hours that day.
Accidental or not, the footage really is horrifying.
So far the Russia World Cup has been thankfully, mostly without any incidents. Read about the challenges the country face hosting the tournament here.
