For most football enthusiasts, it’s impossible to contain their excitement during a fierce match, especially after witnessing a successful goal, and Pretinha is certainly no exception.
Living in Rio de Janeiro, Pretinha watches Fluminese Football Club matches with her family so often she effectively taught herself to celebrate whenever the Tricolors scored.
Naturally, Pretinha’s happy dance caught the family’s attention, and before long, the pup became an Internet darling through her Instagram and YouTube accounts.
In an interview with TV Brasil, Abrahão Torres, Pretinha’s owner, said the first time his family realized what she was doing, the dog was barely less than a year old.
“I don’t know if it was my son’s wife, [but] she said ‘she’s celebrating,'” Torres said. “Then we looked, [and] she was running.”
Thanks to her victory laps, the Pretinha Dog Tricolor Instagram account has more than 193,000 followers, including Fluminense president Mario Bittencourt, current team players such as Fábio, Ganso, Germán Cano, and Jhon Arias, and even former teammate Nino, who currently plays for Zenit Saint Petersburg.
Torres and Pretinha have even met some of these athletes in person, which is commemorated on their Instagram.
According to Torres, “Fábio, when he gets close, is always playing with her.”
