Everything we know about the epic competition.

If you were ever planning on doing one huge beer shop to enjoy over the festive period, now is the time. That’s because Brewdog, the Scottish based brewery and pub chain that has become a huge multi-national success, has announced that it has hidden 10 solid gold cans in amongst its regular packs of IPAs.

The company took to their official Twitter account to share the news with beer-lovers everywhere.

They revealed that the 10 gold cans will be hidden in 12-packs of their bestselling Punk-IPA, and will be shipped out from purchases made on their online store over the next four weeks. It seems like the perfect excuse to do a new beer order every week.

Whilst the decision to ship the solid gold mock-cans within online orders is probably the safest way for the company to do it, it does take some of the fun out of it. There will be no mad-dash to the supermarket to check the weight of the multi-packs against each other.

BrewDog have revealed that the 24-carat-gold model can has a value of around £15,000, but who knows what sort of crazy price they would re-sell for amongst beer enthusiasts. On top of this, anybody that finds one of the hidden cans will also receive £10,000 worth of shares in the BrewDog franchise, and a VIP tour of the top-secret brewery.

Lovers of the speciality beer company are obviously excited about it, with one comparing the competition to a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory for adults. We can’t help but feel like BrewDog missed out on an epic marketing stunt with that comparison.

The competition starts this week, so we wish you the best of luck with your future beer purchases! If you don’t manage to bag a coveted gold can (which, of course, we’re sure you will) you can always check out their collection of super cool advent calendars.
