The story of the bear who digested an entire duffel bag of cocaine in a failed narcotics drop will be retold by Hollywood as Elizabeth Banks is set to direct ‘Cocaine Bear’.

The wild story ‘Cocaine Bear’ is set to be a Hollywood movie directed by the infamous Elizabeth Banks.

Cocaine Bear is based on a real story when in 1985, Georgia investigators discovered a 175 pound black bear next to a duffel bag that had been emptied over 70 pounds of cocaine, worth an estimated $15 million, after it has been hurled from a plane. The cause of death was without a question, over 40 empty packets scattered near the overdosed bear’s body.

A short account published in the New York Times at the time revealed how drug smuggler jumped out of a plane and fell to his death, his parachute failing him due to carrying too much on his person. Which may have had something to do with carrying a large bag of narcotics.

The bear was found to have suffered a cocktail of countless medical issues, including cerebral haemorrhaging, respiratory failure, hyperthermia, renal failure, heart failure, and a stroke.

After an autopsy was completed, the bear was stuffed and can today be found in a Kentucky museum.

Andrew Thornton was a corrupt narcotics officer who rose to become the head of an international drug smuggling operation. Although he was arrested in 1981, police took to decision to release him, with a view that he could lead them to more powerful figures in the drug trade, and potentially government officials.

However, this plan was thwarted after Thornton’s plane ran into engine trouble and he had to evacuate by parachute, dumping as much of the drugs as possible. Thornton died on impact next to 70 pounds of cocaine, thousands of cash dollars, and three weapons.

The movie will be managed by Universal Pictures and produced by Lord Miller.

Will this movie be fun or harrowing? We will just have to wait and see. Until then, check out this skier being chased by a bear in Romania.
