A Spanish TV journalist celebrated live on air after winning a share of the Spanish Christmas Lottery jackpot. Not everyone was happy, though.

Natalia Escudero, who works for RTVE, celebrated with an elated crowd upon learning she had won.

Escudero had won €5,000 and told her colleagues back in the studio that ‘I don’t work tomorrow’. What a great way to resign!

However, some viewers criticised Escudero. They cited unprofessionalism and implying that she had won the entire €4 million prize rather than her fractional amount. Escudero later apologised.

She stood by her journalistic record saying that after 25 years working as a professional journalist she maintained a “clear conscience” and did “rigorous and proven work”. Escudero did defend her decision to take time off though, saying she was going on holiday. And why not…

This lucky reporter won in the most public way possible. Others prefer to stay a little more anonymous, like this winner who collected their winnings wearing a mask!
