Take a step back in time…

Get ready to channel your inner American Horror Story ‘Murder House’ vibes for this one. A creepy building, spooky vibes, and a feeling that it doesn’t feel so abandoned after all. Youtuber Riddim Ryder ‘The Adventurer’ checked out this 80s vibes mansion in an unknown location which seems indicative of a criminal investigation.

Tipped off by Freaktography in 2019, Ryder headed to check the ‘sketchy’ mansion out. The building has been left fully furnished, piled high with valuable antiques and lit up with the electricity still running.

Entering into the open plan living room, there are obvious signs of damage to the house. Gaping holes in the ceiling can be seen as water pours onto the marble flooring, whilst decay is rife too. It’s also obvious that this isn’t your stereotypical ‘abandoned’ house. It’s well decorated (for the ’80s at least,) somewhat glamorous and amass with vintage tech gadgets to make your parents jealous. There are even elephant styled chairs sitting in the dining room.

One of the strangest ordeals of the so-called abandoned house was the lack of the abandoned feeling. Lamps and main electrics were still turned on, implying that someone was still paying the bills. In the first bedroom, Ryder enters, two photographs of an elderly Asian couple are hung up on the wall, shrouding the house in even more mystery. Ryder does briefly mention, however, that the house is controversial in its origin. The house has been linked to human trafficking in the past, albeit nothing has been confirmed.

The closet is fully furnished, with clothes preserved in bags to keep them fresh for whoever knows. Yet, the strange feelings continue on into the bedroom, where the shape of two human figures lying in bed can be seen, despite it being created with pillows. As Ryder creeps over towards the wardrobe, fingerprint dust surrounded the knobs, the dressing table, and the bedside cabinets. Weird, right?

As the journey continues, more closets are found, these empty however, another bedroom with the same human figures stuffed under the covers and another three bathrooms are discovered with half empty cologne bottles sat on the marble.

Upon venturing into the hallway, a common theme is set. Skylights, school width corridors, and open space greet you, cementing the house’s fondness of airiness. It’s almost clincial.

The kitchen appears to be another one of the creepier rooms of the house. Keeping up with tradition, a large turned on lamp sits on the countertop. There are even pans resting on the stove. Ryder finds a multitude of electrical appliances and chairs in the adjoining room, furthering the suspicion that more than just a family lived there.

The most elaborate part of the exploration (apart from the elephant chairs,) is the spiraling staircase leading down to the basement area. There’s a firepit that Ryder suggests could be ideal for a boozy human swingers party, hinting towards the human trafficking angle.

At this point in the tour, we’ve witnessed countless bedrooms and bathrooms, packed with clothing of all sorts. Hidden in the abyss of one of the bedrooms lays a closet that a thrift shop would envy. Flannel shirts, puffa jackets, and plaid shirts pile high with no sign of an owner. We also find what seems to be the boiler room, the source of all the electricity for the home.

The tour comes to its conclusion with Ryder finding a jacuzzi, spa, and a pool with moss growing on the surface, which resembles a swamp, with windows peering over to the firepit and its mysteries.

So, that’s where the tour ends. Abruptly and with no real answers to any questions. It seems to remains a mystery, with a potential sinister past.

Maybe there’s the potential for it to be turned into something incredible, like this.
