To celebrate the release of the new Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2, Tony Hawk has skated the warehouse level from the game in real life.
The 52-year-old Tony Hawk, also known as the Birdman, has definitely still got it, showing off all his moves in the video as the song Deathwire by Rough Francis plays.
The game was released on Microsoft Windows, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on 4th September.
An 8/10 review by Stephen Tailby, on Push Square, praises the new game: ‘It retains the specific feel of the franchise at its best, delivering an addictive, fast-paced, arcade-like experience.’
‘Old fans can rest easy knowing that the Tony Hawk games are back on form, while new players can dive into the skateboarding world for the first time. This game is sick, bro.’
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater was first released 20 years ago, and continued to consistently release new versions for 15 years. Now, 5 years on without releasing a new one – he’s finally done it. And, this time, it’s better than ever.
He tells Radio 1 Newsbeat: ‘The seed was planted when we were coming up on the 20th anniversary of the first game.
‘I had seen all the fans saying they wanted a re-master. The subject came up, with the developer Activision, and it just seemed like the right time.
‘Vicarious Visions were given the task of developing it and I would say very quickly, we started seeing progress that I knew the fans would be excited about.’
Tony Hawk’s staff also set up a ramp recreating the S-K-A-T-E challenge from the game. The challenge involves hitting and collecting all the letters scattered around a map.
