Well, this isn’t something you hear about every day.
Pete Doherty, the former front man of The Libertines, was out for a walk with his dogs when one of his huskies tried to eat a hedgehog. While trying to save the hedgehog and protect his dog, Doherty was actually stabbed in the hand by one of the hedgehog’s spines. Due to this little accident, he had to cancel his appearance with BBC Radio 5 Live to seek medical treatment.
Nihal Arthanayake, the afternoon presenter for the radio show, said:
We have Kiefer Sutherland coming up – he is replacing Pete Doherty.
Pete Doherty tried to rescue a hedgehog from his dog’s mouth… a spine from the hedgehog went into his hand and it is infected.
He is now in hospital having the infected hedgehog spine removed from his finger.
That is the reason Pete Doherty is not on this show today.
Doherty’s reps have also confirmed the story, stating he was trying to save the hedgehog from his dog and his dog from the hedgehog. He appears to have gotten the infection all taken care of and is doing well. No word on the condition of the hedgehog though. Hopefully it wasn’t a relative of Sonic (get it? LOL, man I crack myself up).
