Lost Cities You’ll Want To Visit When We Can Travel Again

Fancy a getaway that isn’t your back garden?

via

Pompeii might be popular with the tourists due to its volcanic fame (and the 2013 pop hit by Bastille), but Herculaneum is the place to be if you don’t like touristy things. Herculaneum was also destroyed by the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius, but hasn’t garnered the same fame. Much like Pompeii, Herculaneum was preserved under layers of volcanic ash, so you can still see much of what the city was like.

Due to being a bit further away from the volcano than Pompeii, Herculaneum is actually in slightly better tack than its famous sister. You can see wooden door frames, for example.
