Top 10 Most Chaotic Adult Animated Shows

Here are 10 underrated shows that are as chaotic as they come, packed with absurd humor, wild antics, and unfiltered comedy.

If you love shows full of absurdity, unfiltered humor, and moments that make you laugh while questioning your sanity, this list is for you. Starting at number 10 and working our way to the ultimate champion of chaos, these series are a must-watch for fans of animated madness.

As an avid lover of messy animation, I’m always hunting for the most absurd and unhinged shows to decompress from university chaos. After finishing classics like Rick and Morty or Family Guy, I dove deeper into animated gems with dark humor and absurdity. The shows most wouldn’t find funny—or might judge—are exactly how I measure what adult animation to watch next.

Here’s a list of hilariously chaotic shows that became my go-to void fillers, perfect for anyone craving something outrageous and unapologetically bold.

10. Disenchantment

Luci, Bean and Elfo after exploding a candy house – Youtube/@Netflix

Created by Matt Groening (the mind behind The Simpsons and Futurama), Disenchantment is set in the medieval fantasy kingdom of Dreamland.

It follows the misadventures of Princess Bean, her elf companion Elfo, and a feisty, talking, and somewhat mysterious demon named Luci as the princess rejects her royal duties and embraces a life of rebellion. She embarks on wild and often absurd adventures, uncovering dark secrets about her family and the kingdom itself.

Why should you watch this?

The chaos in Disenchantment comes from Bean and her companions’ bizarre adventures, which lead to surreal outcomes. Bean isn’t your typical princess—she drinks, she’s loud, she will beat anyone up, and has a thing for mermaids (well, pretty girls in general). Naturally, her path is far from royal. The show, therefore, blends offbeat humor, satirical commentary on medieval fantasy and royalty, with absurd and grotesque elements.

Bean is a rebel princess, Luci is a sarcastic little prick and Elfo is…well Elfo.

Additionally, they are accompanied by one of the aliens who wanted to take over Earth. Together, they try to make sense of their surroundings and lay the foundation for a new civilization.

Why should you watch this?

The chaos in Mulligan stems from the survivors’ idiotic attempts to rebuild society, which are constantly derailed by absurd situations and misguided actions. The characters, often out of their element, create chaos as they struggle to adapt to their new reality.  This show highlights the unpredictability of life after the apocalypse and the bizarre ways the survivors react to their circumstances. Additionally, the absurdity of the characters’ interactions, specially with the alien they captured that is now best friend’s with the new president…so odd.

7. Good Times: Black Again

The Evans family about to crash their car – Youtube/@Netflix

Good Times: Black Again is an animated reboot of the classic Good Times sitcom, set in the same Chicago housing project as the original. It follows the Evans family—Beverly, Dalvin, and their kids, Grey (a pre-teen activist), Reggie (the lazy artist), and Junior (the baby drug dealer)—as they navigate modern-day challenges, but with a comedic, exaggerated twist. Throughout the series, they explore family dynamics and encounter everything from over-the-top gentrification to bizarre, modern-day issues.

Why should you watch this?

The contrast between real-world problems and the exaggerated animation creates a unique blend of humor, making this show both chaotic and deeply satirical. The characters are thrown into extreme, sometimes nonsensical scenarios that blend political and social commentary with chaotic comedy. This reboot leans into the absurdity of modern social issues, amplifying them with exaggerated, animated visuals and situations, plus they had to stop Elon Musk from taking over the world on one of the episodes so that’s that…

This show is graphic, to say the least, and it will genuinely make you regret your life choices. The characters are deeply flawed and constantly make things worse, leading to explosive, unpredictable situations.

Paradise PD is the most mind-blowing animated show I have ever watched. It will leave you wondering how and why this was made in the first place. It will leave you gagged with every episode.

From marrying dolphins to car x owner romance? This show is definitely something to unpack.

Trust me when I say the chaos is there, and I don’t even think your brain will be able to register it. I know mine didn’t.
