After keeping fans waiting a modest 17 years for a third instalment, Quentin Tarantino has shed light on Kill Bill:Volume 3!
The Kill Bill franchise has an aura of immortality in Hollywood. No matter how many years pass, the story of the katana-wielding assassin never loses it’s foothold at the top of movie-fans’ “Greatest Movie” lists. With Uma Thurman spearheading the industry-changing duo of hit movies, fans have been losing faith for a threequel as she enters her fifties. Surely her acrobatic days are behind her, wouldn’t you think? Tarantino disagrees.
Uma Thurman and her daughter slashing assassins together? Count us in.
The renowned director commented on the prospect, stating “The idea of being able to cast Uma and cast her daughter, Maya. The thing would be f*****g exciting!”
Now a fully-fledged star in her own right, Thurman’s daughter Maya Hawke rose to stardom on hit Netlfix series Stranger Things.
“I think it’s just revisiting the characters twenty years later and just imagining the Bride and her daughter, BB, having 20 years of peace, and then that peace is shattered,” Tarantino said in an interview on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast.
Another breakthrough-star has been heavily rumoured to join the cast
Disney-star turned Hollywood powerhouse Zendaya has acknowledged the possibility of jumping on board for the third movie. Kill Bill Volume 1’s Vernita Green touted Zendaya as a perfect casting role for her on-screen daughter, stating “How hot would that be? It would just kick butt. Tarantino, cast Zendaya!”
Tarantino and Thurman discussed ideas over a meal in a Japanese restaurant
“I do have an idea of what I would do”, Tarantino explained in the wake of a hopeful conversation with Thurman over dinner, “that was the whole thing, conquering that concept… exactly what’s happened to The Bride since then, and what do I want to do.
“Because I wouldn’t want to just come up with some cockamamie adventure. She doesn’t deserve that!”
It’s clear to us that Tarantino wouldn’t settle for anything less than another masterpiece, and this seems to be the sole reason for the franchises hiatus.
Just two years removed from his latest blockbuster “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood“, Tarantino is unquestionably still one of the best directors on the planet. With a resume like no other (Reservoir Dogs, Inglorious Basterds, Pulp Fiction), fans wait patiently for further developments towards a third movie. With the possibility of a sequel now gaining more traction than ever before, it seems inevitable that the Katana’s will be dusted off and clashing together sooner rather than later.
If you needed an excuse to revisit the early-00s blockbuster’s, here it is!
