Anthony Byrne, director of the hit BBC drama Peaky Blinders, has confirmed in an post to Instagram that season six is currently in pre-production.
In August 2019, Byrne told GQ: “I’m reading the scripts at the moment, which Steven is writing. I start properly on series six in early November. Then we start shooting early next year, is the plan.”
Season five, which was also directed by Byrne aired last September, saw Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) come up against the far-right politician Oswald Moseley (Sam Claflin).
Speaking on what’s to come in season six Byrne said: “[Tommy] has to play a long game. He has to show patience and calm when other people want to react. He’s battling his own instincts and behaviour.
“That is the most dangerous thing. He wants to just kill Mosley, but he knows he can’t.”
There is no official release date for season six just yet but fans can’t wait for what’s to come as one commented: “Ok wow crying I am so ready”.
Another added: ‘Already? Yeaaahhhh wish good work to ya and everyone on it”.
