As we start 2026, there are many shows that are releasing additional seasons. Whether they are controversial, addictive or light-hearted, there is a show for everybody to enjoy as we start the new year.

I have compiled a short list of TV shows that I strongly believe everybody should watch at least once in their lives. The next seasons for each show mentioned are set to be released by the end of the year. So there is more jam-packed episodes to look forward to in the future.

In addition, each show mentioned varies in genre – making this list suitable for everyone. There is a show catered to all the romance lovers and another for all the horror fans out there – plus everyone in between.

1) The White Lotus

The White Lotus is an ironic drama series based around wealthy holidaymakers who go on vacation. However, these trips unravel high levels of tension, secrets and crime at each White Lotus resort. In the first 3 seasons, viewers are transported to luxurious hotel resorts in Hawaii, Sicily and Thailand. It is rumoured that the fourth season will take place in France – with filming taking place in Paris and the French Riviera. Plus, actresses Sydney Sweeney (Euphoria), Haley Lu Richardson (The Edge of Seventeen) and Aimee Lou Wood (Sex Education) staring in one of each existing season. As a result, The White Lotus blends a mixture of dark comedy with mystery and incredible commentary.

However, this drama has sparked discussions over the last few years. Many viewers often discuss the satirical view on privilege, class division and social behaviours. This is due to how some of the characters are portrayed throughout the seasons. Additionally, some viewers believe that the show includes low levels of cultural insensitivity in places. Some viewers enjoy the sharp commentary, whilst others believe it is uncomfortable or provocative. But, this is part of The White Lotus‘ appeal and intention.

Although there is no confirmed release date, fans expect to see season 4 around the end of 2026 or early 2027. You can stream all 3 seasons on HBO Max (US) or Now TV (UK) .

2) Wednesday

This dark yet comedic mystery series focuses in on Wednesday Addams – played by Jenna Ortega – a sharp-witted and emotionless teenager. Whilst she masters her psychic abilities at Nevermore Academy, she discovers a series of murders and secrets related to her family’s history. With Tim Burton as the executive producer and director of a few episodes, the last 2 seasons merge humour and supernatural mystery into one jam-packed show. Plus, there is set to be new characters for the third season.

Viewers find Wednesday to be an addictive and lighthearted watch for fans. Many viewers ended up binge-watching the entire show as a result of the mysterious plot, cliffhangers and Ortega’s incredible performance. Furthermore, although there is the presence of dark themes and spooky elements, the overall atmosphere of Wednesday is playful and humorous. Thus making Wednesday suitable for the majority of the family to watch together.

Although there is not an official release date yet, viewers believe that the third season of Wednesday is set to be released towards the end of 2026 or early 2027. But, all current 16 episodes are available to stream on Netflix now.

3) Bridgerton

Bridgerton is a romance based on the Regency Era London in which follows the rich Bridgerton family. This includes characters finding love and getting involved in different scandals. Whilst this is happening, the Bridgerton family are being watched by an anonymous gossip writer. With the cast filled with actors such as Simone Ashley (Picture This) and Jonathan Bailey (Wicked), the current three seasons blend romance, drama and modern sensibilities with historic period storytelling.

Viewers find Bridgerton to be highly binge-worthy due to the romantic plots, cliffhangers and glamorous visuals. Furthermore, the show is also quite lighthearted despite several scenes of drama and emotional conflict. However, there have been many discussions over Bridgerton‘s modern take on the Regency Era and the social themes presented within episodes. But, these discussions tend to be more conversational rather than controversial.

The first 2 episodes are set to be premiered on the 29th January with an exclusive event with Netflix. But for now, the first 3 seasons are available to stream on Netflix ahead of the premiere.

4) American Horror Story

This anthological horror series (also known as AHS) tells a different story each season – with self-contained plot lines, different locations and additional themes. These vary from haunted houses and asylums to witches, cults and apocalypses. Plus, the recurring cast tend to feature in different roles. AHS most frequent actors include Sarah Paulson (Bird Box), Evan Peters (Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story) and Emma Roberts (Scream Queens) plus many more.

For the most part, AHS fans find the show binge-worthy due to the varying plots in each season. Plus, the anthology format keeps the show engaging. Furthermore, American Horror Story is seen to be somewhat controversial. This is a result of the graphic violence, disturbing themes and the taboo subjects raised in episodes. As a result, some seasons have sparked conversations over how far they pushed boundaries. Therefore, AHS is one of those shows that is not suitable for the lighthearted. So it is definitely one of those for the horror fiends out there!

Created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, American Horror Story is known for its dark imagery, sudden plot twists and its bold storytelling. Plus, with the new cast including Ariana Grande (Wicked), the 13th season is set to premiere on the 31st October.

You can watch all 12 seasons on Disney+ ahead of the Halloween premiere.

5) Euphoria

Euphoria is a teen drama in which follows high school students’ struggles with addiction, identity, relationships and trauma. This show tells this narrative through an intensive yet stylised lens. Furthermore, Zendaya (Spider-Man: Homecoming) plays main character Rue Bennett – a teenager who is battling a major drug addiction. Additionally, Euphoria stars Jacob Elordi (Saltburn) and Maude Apatow (This Is 40).

This bold and gripping series captivates audiences as a result of its intense storytelling, emotional depth and Zendaya’s strong performance. Euphoria is also quite controversial in places. The first 2 seasons have sparked widespread debates over the graphic portrayal of drug use, mental health issues and the perception of teenagers in extreme situations. As a result, the show often divides opinions due to the raw and explicit content presented to viewers.

It is rumoured that season 3 will be released in April 2026. In the meantime, the first two seasons are available to stream on HBO Max (US) or Now TV (UK).

These are just a select few series that viewers are anticipating the next seasons of. Personally, I am most looking forward to the next release of The White Lotus and Euphoria. However, viewers of all these shows have thoroughly enjoyed them.

Are there any others shows that haven’t been mentioned that you are looking forward to?
