Anyone else really disappointed? ✋

Earlier this month, rumors began to circulate that the cast of ‘The Holiday’ would be reuniting to bring a sequel to our screens. The actors have recently broken their silence on the topic. Don’t get too excited. It was all just speculation.

It’s not Christmas unless you’re watching Cameron Diaz run through the snow to tell Jude Law that it doesn’t make sense to leave before New Year’s Eve. ‘The Holiday’ has been a Christmas favorite since its release in 2006. With the perfect cast of Cameron Diaz, Jack Black, Jude Law, and Kate Winslet, everyone was very excited to see them reunited for the sequel.

The rumors are said to have started after The Sun published the news. People assumed it was true as Cameron Diaz has returned to acting after a hiatus and will be starring in a Netflix movie. After The Sun’s report, The Daily Mail released a similar article on the sequel.

Unfortunately, it was not meant to be. The cast members have confirmed that the sequel will not be happening.

Miffy Englefield, who played one of Jude Law’s daughters in the film, recently confirmed the rumors to be rumors on TikTok.

In her TikTok, Miffy said ‘thank you to everyone who tagged me but unfortunately this is just a rumor that spiraled very quickly. There are currently no plans to film a sequel.’

Miffy, now 23, lives with her partner and daughter. She has kept quiet over the last few years and hasn’t worked on many other films. That being said, she has built up a TikTok following of nearly 50k followers on the app.

If that wasn’t enough to crush any hope of seeing your favorite Christmas couples return to the screen, the director of the film, Nancy Meyers, also confirmed that all these rumors were just speculation. She shut down the news on her Instagram, saying ‘sorry but it’s not true’.

Kate Winslet also spoke to People magazine to clarify that the rumors are false. She said ‘I read something about that, but it’s the first I’ve heard of it. I promise you not an agent or a representative or anyone from the first one around has had any conversation with me about that. Hand on heart, that’s never come up.’

So there you have it. It sounds like we won’t be getting ‘The Holiday 2’ as a Christmas gift this year. Director Nancy Meyers does have a new film in the works though which will be her first in seven years. For now, we will have to settle for rewatching ‘The Holiday’ again.
