A summer film that promises to unite kids and adults alike, the live-action adaptation of Dreamwork’s, How to Train Your Dragon is one to look out for. Like its animated predecessor, the live-action will follow teenage Viking Hiccup, son of Stoick, chief of the island of Berk. Known for his bravery and years of fighting dragons, Stoick attempts to train Hiccup to do the same. Despite this, Hiccup has captured and befriended an adorable dragon, who he names Toothless. Stuck between this creature who quickly becomes his best friend, and a responsibility to his father and community, Hiccup attempts to chart a new path for himself. Just like the animated film, this live-action take promises an equally heartwarming story. And yes, the CGI looks pretty great in the trailer. Check it out!
Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy
- What is it: Sequel! Sort of?
- Releasing: Feb 14th
While not exactly a sequel, this film is a follow-up worthy of this list! The fourth film in the Bridget Jones series comes almost ten years after its previous film. Set four years after the death of her husband Mark Darcy, Renée Zellweger’s Bridget Jones finds herself navigating her life as a single mother, job as a screenwriter, and a blossoming relationship with a boyfriend who is over twenty years younger than her. Actor, Leo Woodall will be playing the charming new boyfriend but based on the film’s cast it seems as if Colin Firth and Hugh Grant will be reprising their roles in some capacity as well. As a romcom lover you will likely find me in theaters come Valentine’s Day.
