Most of us are familiar with the beautifully haunting crooning of Billie Eilish. She hit the music scene with her debut album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? in 2019. And for those of you that have not listened to this album front to back and back to front, we recommend you get on that right away. Not only is Eilish’s music recognizable, so is her everyday style — her hair has been electric green and black for some time now and she always seems to be sporting baggy clothes. But her iconic look changed for the latest cover for British Vogue.
British Vogue interviewed Billie Eilish about everything from her music to the power she has over her fan base. Oh and that green and black hair-do she has been rocking for the past couple of months? It was a wig! She hid her actual hair from fans for months ahead of her latest album — just proving further that she is an artist that is here to stay. They also dedicate portions of the interview to discuss Eilish’s life as a kid, body image, and writing her new album with her brother during the COVID lockdowns.
Billie Eilish’s post on Instagram about the British Vogue cover now has almost 16.5 million likes and 110K comments. The first million likes for her cover photo hit the milestone number in just six minutes, which is now an Instagram record. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Eilish also holds Instagram records with other photos she has uploaded… the one in which she debuted her new blond locks is the third most-liked photo on all of the social media site!
While many fans questioned why Billie Eilish is now looking so mainstream on the cover, Eilish had this to say on her Instagram, “i love these pictures and i loved doing this shoot. do whatever you want whenever you want. f**k everything else.” I think that clears that up, don’t you?
As a fan of Billie Eilish, I know that I better get her pretty name out of my mouth. So we want to know what you think about these photos for British Vogue: do you like them or do you love them?
