For the first time, Britney Spears addressed her 13-year-long abusive conservatorship. Last week on Instagram, not only did Britney cause outcries of solidarity with the #FreeBritney hashtag, but also she called  out her conservator (Britney’s father, James P. Spears), sister (Jamie Lynn Spears), and all the haters.

Britney Spears’ conservatorship, an abject failure of the US legal system, has become the fascination of the whole world. It all started when the New York Times documentary “Framing Britney Spears” proved that the #FreeBritney movement is not just a conspiracy but a bitter reality.

In June, a recorded court hearing revealed jaw-dropping information about the celebrity’s circumstances. We learned Britney’s conservators force her to take psychiatric medication, forbade her to marry, use her money freely, or drive a car. Besides, she must keep an intrauterine contraceptive device against her will. Yet, until last week, Spears had been silenced by her father and managers for 13 years!

“Thank you to my fans who are supporting me… You have no idea what it means to me to be supported by such awesome fans !!!! […] #FreeBritney”

On the 15th of July, Britney shared an exclusive Instagram post regarding her fight against the conservatorship. Until recently, Britney’s conservatorship chose the lawyers representing her at the court, which led to a conflict of interests. However, Britney updated the world about her first legal victory. Finally, the judge allowed Britney to hire a lawyer of her choice. For the first time, Britney addressed her fans with the hashtag #FreeBritney.

Britney Has a Lot To Say to Her Family

The most surprising posts came later. Firstly, Britney called out her haters for criticizing her dancing videos. Britney argues, if anyone does not like her videos, they do not have to watch them. Later in the post, Britney addresses her father and says she will not perform as long as her father, Jamie Spears, manages her life. The post gets even franker when Britney mentions her sister. She says she disliked her sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, singing Britney’s songs and that her so-called support system hurt her deeply.

In a later post, Britney goes as far as indicating that her sister is a hypocrite. After Britney’s fans had found out that Jamie Lynne Spears uses Britney’s money, Jamie Lynne shared a controversial video showing her claimed support for Britney. However, she mainly talks about herself. Fans became agitated, pointing at Jamie’s fake tears. Finally, Britney had her say,

“There’s nothing worse than when the people closest to you who never showed up for you post things in regard to your situation whatever it may be and speak righteously for support …”

As it seems, Britney Spears started to gain control over her life. For now, she can use her voice to speak freely. Sooner or later, Britney will escape from a scenario similar to a Black Mirror episode starring Miley Cyrus. Let us hope that Britney’s conservatorship will urge others to reveal more cases of legal abuse in the US.
