Up for sale for just about…$63 million U.S. dollars.
Johnny Depp is selling his famous family village compound in Plan De La Tour, France, just off the guise of the yacht-infested harbors of St Tropez.
The compound in the south of France is as picturesque as you would imagine. It used to be an old 19th century village, but Depp acquired it all for his own in 2001 leaving its quirky public spaces as they are on the exterior, but renovating the interiors to turn it into a family estate. The dozen or so buildings constituting the compound include an ancient chapel, a bar and restaurant, a workshop, a staff house, art studios, a pool… well, anything a little village might already have.
Depp decorated the interiors of the estate himself, spending just over 10 million U.S. dollars over the years on the restoration. One amazing touch, was turning the ancient chapel into a livable guest house.
The compound had originally gone up for sale in 2015, for a humble ask of just about $25 million, but following this year’s re-listing, the price increase saw it reach the extortionate $63 million mark.
