Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling has an explanation for why they will not be seen together on the red carpet.
The 96th Academy Awards started in the Los Angeles Dolby Theater as celebrities started to fill the red carpet.
Ryan Gosling showed up to the red carpet without his wife, Eva Mendes.
He walked the red carpet with his mother, sister and stepfather. His mother’s name is Donna Gosling, his sister is Mandi Gosling, and his stepfather is Valerio Attanasio.
Ryan Gosling was up for the Oscar for Best Actor in a Supporting Role but lost to Oppenheimer’s Robert Downey Jr.
As one of the performers for the Oscars, Gosling performed “I’m Just Ken” from the Barbie soundtrack which was up for Best Original Song.
Ryan Gosling’s Performance
The Oscars had memorable moments like Emma Stone’s win as Actress in a Leading Role and Billie Eilish’s win for “What Was I Made For”. Little did we know that a performance of “I’m Just Ken” would be on that list.
Gosling was joined onstage by Guns and Roses guitarist Slash and fellow Kens who sang and danced. Gosling payed tribute to Marilyn Monroe’s famous pink dress from “Gentleman Perfer Blondes” by wearing a pink suit and tie.
The performer decided to have audience participation and stopped in front of Emma Stone to have her sing. Stone wore an aquamarine dress and belted the line “And so am I”.
However, the song lost the Oscar for Best Original Song to “What Was I Made For” by Billie Eilish. Despite the loss, the song remains to be hugely popular.
Gosling finished the performance for his Hollywood peers and the viewers watching at home. Mendes was backstage for the entire thing.
Mendes and Gosling began dating in 2011 and share two children together. Their names are Esmeralda Amada, who is eight, and Amada Lee, who is seven.
Eva Mendes and Ryan Goslings Relationship
The private couple has not been seen on the red carpet since 2012, when they showed up together at the Toronto International Film Festival.
On April 6th, 2023, Mendes posted a clip from her film “The Place Beyond The Pines” on Instagram. The caption was “Magic is real. We did not meet on set. The magic was captured on camera. Gracias to the incredible director Derek Cianfrance.”
In a caption under the post, Mendes explained that she is “only comfortable posting because it’s already out there.”
She explained it further by saying that she and Ryan Gosling value their private lifestyle.
“Eva Mendes has previously shared that she and Ryan Gosling choose not to pose together on red carpets as a policy. They support each other in all of their work efforts on screen, but they remove their private lives from being part of the stage to be photographed and viewed. They keep business, business, with rare exceptions, and the focus stays on the one who is the star of that moment in time.,” Stacy Jones said.
Eva Mendes remains Gosling’s biggest cheerleader despite not being on the red carpet.
The 50-year-old actress proved that she was at the Oscars when she went to Instagram to share a video of herself backstage. The caption was “Always by my man.”
She made another post dedicated to her Ken with the caption, “You took Ken all the way to the Oscars, RG. Now coming home, we need to put the kids to bed.”
