The infamous UFC star loves the limelight – but he may have got more than he bargained for this time, with some pretty savage reactions to his latest statement purchase.
Conor McGregor will want to focus all of his energy toward his fight next week at UFC 257, where he’ll come up against Dustin Poirier.
However, whilst UFC competitors usually stir up media and press attention from smack-talking their opponents (McGregor, of course, is no exception), it’s instead of the Irishman’s garish new pair of flash watches that have stolen the show.
Despite containing a secret compartment, which features an explicit moving image that we’ll kindly spare you from, the first of the watches is actually fairly easy on the eye – as long as you’re wearing sunglasses.
Timepiece Teasing
Whilst the obnoxious shimmer of precious stones might not be to everyone’s taste, this first purchase is conventional enough to pass as little more than a classic jewel-encrusted brag from McGregor.
His second watch, though, is a sight to behold. It boasts some impressive numbers, holding 342 baguette-cut diamonds on the backdrop, 80 more of these on its lugs, and 133 more triangle-cut diamonds on its dials.
Unfortunately, though, the Astronomia Tourbillon Baguette looks even more stupid than it sounds. See for yourself – and have a giggle at the responses it’s received on Twitter.
We’d call this harmless fun, and not only because McGregor has hardly even touched his bank with what most of us would call an incredibly wasteful and regrettable purchase. He’s also up there with the most reckless and riotous celebrities who couldn’t care less what people think of him, least of all (sorry guys) a few random people on Twitter.
Either way, it must be said – we wouldn’t expect anything less from him.
