When nightlife returns back to normal, the new “smart pizza” machines could solve the search for midnight munchies.
These machines went viral after TikToker @Honeykeenan_ uploaded a video using the machine with the title: “Trying the pizza vending machine in Glasgow”.
For the price of 9 quid, @Honeykeenan_ swears that the pizzas are not frozen, but in fact cooked: “It’s a fresh one. They’re made somewhere else in the day and put in the machine.”
Other Tiktokers responded positively to this new contraption, claiming these were perfect for anyone looking for a drunk snack after a night out or anyone who struggles with social anxiety and has difficulty giving their food order to another person.
Christened as “Smart Pizza”, The Smart Pizza can hold up to 96 fresh pizzas, including vegan and gluten-free options.
There are approximately three Smart Pizzas across the UK: one in Bristol, one in the Isle of Man, and one in Glasgow.
In order to keep up with COVID-19 regulations, the company informed the public: “Please be advised that due to the current situation we advise that you use social distancing at all times. We will have a member of staff on hand to direct the public in regards to queuing.”
There are currently 223 vending machines across Europe and two in the United States, according to the trade publication Pizza Marketplace. These machines have been popular in Japan for many years and have finally made their way west to serve as a haven for anyone craving a quick snack on the way home from the pub.
