13 Famous Actors That Hollywood Allegedly Won’t Work With

What happens when your name isn’t up in lights?

There are many different reasons why actors don’t seem to be cast in Hollywood anymore. From box-office duds to bad behaviour, serious allegations, and the end of 5-minute fame. These are some actors and the reasons we don’t see them on the big screen anymore.

You can often split up the reasons actors don’t get cast anymore into these categories:

  • They are too difficult to work with on set,
  • They have had serious misconduct allegations made against them,
  • Their acting ability is too limited for a variety of roles.

Too difficult to work with on set

Lindsay Lohan

Through being in out of court and rehab, it’s not a stretch too far to realise Lohan might be a bit hard to work with. It has been reported that she causes chaos on sets. With big diva demands and outbursts aimed at the crew, we can see why Hollywood casting may be avoiding Lindsay.

Charlie Sheen

Charlie Sheen was getting paid $1 million per episode at the height of his show Two and a Half Men. However,  he angered the producers, true Joey-from-Friends-style, after he did an interview claiming he was too big of a star for his “small pay-packet”. Well, we can tell you, after he was fired, he isn’t making anywhere near $1 million per episode of anything.

Bruce Willis

Apparently, this actor has let fame get to his head. Bruce Willis is a huge actor,  very well known. However, this doesn’t matter to him as he is allegedly unapproachable on set. His bad attitude by not speaking to anyone while working has turned off the Hollywood execs.

Gwyneth Paltrow

Paltrow shares something in common with Willis. On the set of Iron Man 2, she reportedly would not speak to anyone, especially Scarlett Johansson, going out of her way to avoid her. When will actors learn that people want to work with nice people, even on film sets?

Mike Myer

It seems like Myers is just a perfectionist, which can make things difficult when you have long days on set. Apparently, he does not let anything happen without his approval. We understand that you want every feature you are in to be the best, but it can make things hard. Since Austin Powers, he’s mostly stuck to voice roles, such as the iconic Shrek.

Mel Gibson

Unfortunately, not much can stay private in Hollywood. Phone calls often get leaked, and this happened to Mel Gibson. It worked out badly for him when phone calls of him making inappropriate comments about his ex-girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva, were released to the public. However, you might say Hollywood dodged a bullet.

Matthew Fox

After allegations from a co-star on Lost that Matthew was abusive toward women, specifically a female bus driver, Fox has not been cast a lot. He got a DUI in 2012, and he hasn’t been given any opportunities in Hollywood since. Goes to show you can’t act the way you want just because you’re famous and not suffer the consequences.

Columbus Short

Short was fired by Scandal creator Shona Rhimes after allegations surfaced from his ex-wife. Tanee Short told the media how her ex-husband threatened to kill her and himself. Needless to say, Hollywood hasn’t gotten involved with Columbus since.

Alec Baldwin

We all know the video of Alec Baldwin going crazy at photographers on the street. Video evidence of Baldwin shouting homophobic slurs at paparazzi, along with leaked hurtful messages left on his daughters’ voicemail, has ended this actor’s career.

Acting ability is too limited for a variety of roles

Adam Sandler

It’s no secret that most of Adam Sandler’s roles are similar to one another. This might be due to giving himself roles from his own production company, Happy Madison. Other than those productions, he doesn’t get cast that much in Hollywood because of his limited variety of roles.

Sarah Michelle Gellar

Sarah Michelle Gellar hit fame in the 00’s. Her roles in Scooby-Doo and the lead role as Buffy the Vampire Slayer showed off Gellar’s impressive action skills. However, even though it seemed she was getting signed on for a lot of roles, we haven’t seen her in anything different lately.

Nikki Blonsky

Nikki caught everyone’s attention in 2007 in her breakout role in Hairspray. However, since then, she hasn’t been cast in any other productions. Nikki had to return to a regular 9-5 job instead of venturing into acting.

Robert Pattinson

Although Robert also deals with depression, which could make it difficult for him to go for roles himself, since the Twilight Saga, this actor hasn’t been cast a lot. Perhaps it is because casting directors think he can’t break out of the Edward Cullen persona. Hopefully, he’ll get back in the game soon!
