The time of the Coronavirus is one that much of the world is afraid of, confused about and extremely under-prepared for. Health care systems around the world aren’t built for global pandemics, so naturally, countries are turning to alternative options.
In India, police have now resorted to beating citizens with sticks if seen outside. Unable to cope with millions of cases, violence is now their defence against COVID-19. Do I think authorities should be able to beat people into submission? No. Do I believe India is doing the best they can? Probably.
These are trying times for everyone meaning normalities have been thrown out the window. Government officials are beyond frustrated that people aren’t taking quarantine life seriously, but it may be difficult for families in developing countries. I doubt anyone has enough resources to afford to stay home for weeks on end, hence risking the stick.
Some professionals are warning the world that this pandemic could send the economy into a relentless depression. It’s hard to picture how quickly we will comfortably transition back into normal life and spending habits. Families around the world are trying to prepare for the worst and doing their best to carry on.
Let’s be thankful not all governments are having to resort to violence. We don’t need any more hurt in our world right now.
