When you think of how scientists know more about outer space than they do about Earth’s ocean, stepping into those waters might give you pause.
It’s no surprise that people often fear the open waters, the depths they can’t see, or the critters swimming at their feet.
Yet, for every person who fears the waters, there is at least one–if not two or more–daredevils who show no fear.
Couple the open waters with kayaking and many people would turn and run the other way. Well, not this kayaker below:
Rewatch this and let your gasp double. Without hesitation, this kayaker avoids any sort of disruption from their leisurely outing on the water.
Performing a “turtle roll,” this kayaker expertly ducked away from the wave. The “turtle roll,” as seen in the video, involves the kayaker tilting to the side and thus causing the kayak to capsize.
This requires the ability to control the weight balance of the kayak in order to maintain an upside-down position for the duration of the wave passing and also continue the turn to come back upright immediately after.
Without showing any clear difficulty, this kayaker expertly and precisely came back to starting position and avoided the wave.
The daredevils never cease to awe.
