Have you ever wondered what the difference is between the strings on a guitar and the strings on a piano? Well, Youtuber Mattias Krantz has shown us exactly how different they sound by putting guitar strings on a piano.
The laborious task takes him far longer than he (or we) might expect, but the results are rather surprising and, dare I say, unpleasant. The guitar strings sound jarring, broken and hard on the ears. Krantz’s rendition of River Flows in Yiruma is miles away from the soft, beautiful and mellow original. We hope Krantz doesn’t regret this massive undertaking – it may not sound nearly as a good as a guitar or piano normally would, but in less than a week over 1 million people watched it!
It seems the global pandemic may have given Krantz a lot of time on his hands because earlier in August he actually did the opposite of this video: he put piano strings on a guitar… The results were a lot more aurally pleasing, making us perhaps a bit more disappointed with the scary sound of guitar strings in a piano!
Either way, the process Krantz goes through to achieve both results is pretty impressive and we know that this is one music Youtuber who is willing to put in a lot of effort to entertain his audience.
