A viral video has surfaced of this inventive family allowing their covid positive daughter in on the christmas festivities, so long as she’s inside her plastic bubble suit at all times.
Cast your mind back to the 19th of december 2020, Prime Minister Boris Johnson announces a country-wide lockdown in the run up for christmas, due to the rise of the delta varriant looming over our heads. With no prior warning or preparation, this understandably upset the entire nation with people unable to see their families over the festive period, and new years plans completely cancelled.
Well it’s no surprise that now, in 2021, people are determined to make up for the disaster that was last year’s christmas. However the Covid-19 pandemic is far from over, the latest variant: Omicron, is vastly more transmissible than previous variants, spreading up and down not only country but the world and putting a stop to people’s christmas plans before governments even got a chance to.
Nevertheless the people around the world are determined and will stop at nothing to get their roast turkey and stuffing. That is why one woman, Tik Tok user Crista LaRocks (@cristalarock), who’s sister tested positive for Covid, uploaded a video to Tik Tok earlier this month proving that she would not let it stop her sister from sharing in the christmas festivities.
@cristalarock When your sister gets covid for Christmas…you get her a bubble!!! #bubblegirl #covid #merrychristmas @camlrock ♬ original sound – ✰ Christmas sounds ✰
In the video, the family are sat round the table, peacefully enjoying their christas dinner as Crista pans to show her sister surrounded by a plastic bubble suit as she nonchalantly eats her meal as if nothing about it was abnormal.
“When your sister gets covid for Christmas… you get her a bubble!!!” the caption of the video reads and the ridiculousness of the scenario has attracted the attention and laughter of 10.7 million Tik Tok users.
Many of the video’s viewers have chimed in with their take on the plastic bubble debate, as many have been left divided.
One user commented on the potential safety or rather lack their of the bubble against Omicron stating: “10 bucks the whole family gets it by New Years [sic] or sooner because that is not sealed.”
It is unclear what happens to her sister once dinner is over, does she have a plastic bubble for each room in the house?
Whilst other users commented on the cutenes of the family: “Don’t care what anyone else says. This is very sweet. Shows u guys are a very close family and love each other so much.” another user said.
It remains to be seen what the fate of this family is, and whether you’re in full support or you think it’s a one way ticket to infection, one thing is for sure, Covid has certainly made christmas an interesting one.
