A fisherman, Tommy Lee in Florida was just trying to catch some tarpon when he suddenly saw an alligator moving in the water. Lee knew he was in danger and filmed his escape from the huge creature. The video below clearly displays the threat and fear involved in this cat-mouse chase.
Oh my goodness – he was luckily to get out of there! The 11-foot alligator was surely protecting its territory, and almost at the cost of Lee’s life! The scariest part is when Lee is trying to quickly back up and trips, probably on some tree roots or branches. The camera shows that he is on the ground for a good moment – giving the alligator the perfect opportunity to get him! The alligator was nice enough to not just attack him then and there – gators can run up to 35 mph on land!
This probably points to the fact that the alligator was just protecting its home – maybe baby alligators too? What a horrifying video to bring home and show your loved ones, but thankfully he was there to show it! Lee uploaded the video to YouTube back on May 8th, and it currently has well over 1.2 million views!
If I were him, I would never want to fish ever again. Actually, just from watching the video I do not want to fish. What started as a calm day on the water ended quickly and in a super dangerous way. That is the thing with nature and wildlife in general, you can’t control it so your really have to be respectful and careful of it!
That being said, whoever you are and whatever you do – be careful! Thankfully, this alligator in particular didn’t feel like having a human snack today, but you can never assume.
