When it comes to Christmas, people generally like to put in extra effort to make the holidays special for family and friends. If you have kids, you want to make the holiday special for them. One dad from New Zealand took his nephew’s love of dinosaurs and ran with it to create the ultimate Christmas tree!
According to Rebecca Shepherd (ladbible.com), Steven Newland created a Godzilla Christmas tree that breathes smoke! Newland says the tree comprises “four Christmas trees, chicken wire, green mesh, 1x fog machine, plastic teeth, and paper claws”. The Godzilla tree is “1.8m” tall. It takes a lot of creativity to bring this concept to life and construct it.

Steven Auctions Off The Tree For A Good Cause
This year, Newland put the tree up for auction on trademe, and after receiving 34 bids and listing it for $250 NZ, it ended up selling for $415 NZ, $273 US (ladbible.com 1). Newland included in the tree ad that “the fog machine comes with a remote control and comes with spare fog machine fluid. Comes with a box of spare branches and dinosaur stockings”. He also adds “a stand is needed to hold the treezilla up”. Newland wanted to ensure the new owners were prepared for this new Christmas tree when they purchased it.
With Newland’s extra money for treezilla, he donated it to the children’s charity Canteen. Canteen is an Australian support organization to help children with cancer, it is also in New Zealand. I think this was so generous of him. So many kids worldwide are suffering every single day for various kinds of cancer and every amount of money can help save children’s lives. Christmas especially is a time when these kinds of organizations ask for donations because they are taking on more cases all the time. Hopefully, one day we will live in a world where there are cures to all cancers and no parent will ever have to lose their child.
Finally, Newland is not new to making creative Christmas trees. He has also made a “Pac Man-themed tree as well as a half and half Portal tree”. However, he did not share what this year’s tree was, so I guess that is a secret. Keep up the creative Christmas tree ideas Steven!
