Students queued for hours to attend Bhad Bhabie’s highly anticipated speech at Oxford University’s Students Union.
Danielle ‘Bhad Bhabie’ Bregoli spoke about the abuse she endured at the Turn-About Ranch, her rise to fame, rap career, and her OnlyFans success at a highly-awaited Oxford Union address earlier this week.
The 19-year-old rapper, from Florida, was greeted with rapturous applause when she walked into the hall and sat down to be interviewed.
Students reportedly queued for hours for a chance to watch the US star deliver her speech on November 2nd.
For those unfamiliar with Bhad Bhabie, she first rose to fame in 2013 on an episode of Dr. Phil titled ‘I Want to Give Up My Car-Stealing, Knife-Wielding, Twerking 13-Year-Old Daughter Who Tried to Frame Me for a Crime!’
The episode was as wild as it sounds and she went viral following the episode’s airing with her famous line ‘Cash me outside, how bout that’, and was later dubbed the ‘Cash Me Outside Girl‘.
But more recently, Ms Bregoli has rebranded herself as ‘Bhad Bhabie’ and launched a music career with the help of Kodak Black and Lil Yachty.
She’s also become one of the most successful creators on the infamous platform OnlyFans and was recently placed amongst the top-earning creators, with Forbes estimating her to ave earned $49 million in 2021 with her content on the platform.
The star went on to confirm this with screenshots from her OnlyFans, showing a gross revenue of $53 million.
Clearly a savvy businesswoman, Bhad Bhabie was invited to speak at the Oxford Union; just a day before political activist Malala Yousafzai gave a speech in the exact same spot.
However, this isn’t the first time the rapper has dipped her toe into the world of higher education.
Just last month she teamed with the Educapital Foundation to create a $1.7 million scholarship which will provide postgraduate entrepreneurial grants and full scholarships to students.
Bhad Bhabie spoke about her partnership, explaining that she wanted to make a real difference to ‘young hustlers’ starting their own business.
“While developing this scholarship programme, it was great collaborating with Educapital’s Aisha Rodriguez and Dr. Brenita Mitchell, both amazing women giving amazing opportunities to the next generation of entrepreneurs,” she said.
“We didn’t want to just give out tuition funds but also help the grads with startup capital to launch their own businesses. I can’t wait to see what these young hustlers do.”
Meanwhile, Dr. Brenita Mitchell, Founder of Educapital Foundation, said the scholarship will remove financial barriers for students: “We are incredibly grateful for our partnership with Bhad Bhabie that allows us the continue our mission to eliminate poverty through trade school education.”
“I have seen firsthand the role education plays in opening doors to building wealth and creating successful career opportunities. By removing financial barriers, the ‘Bhad Scholarship’, will help students spend more time focusing on their studies, and help them achieve their lifelong dreams,” she continued.
One member of the audience tried to heckle the teenager during her speech to which she replied with her famous line: “Cash me outside, how bout that.”
Born in 2003, Bregoli has accomplished a lot during her short life. The 19-year-old became the youngest female rapper to earn a place on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with debut single These Heaux, at just 14-years-old.
She has also revealed that she has spent some time during her teenage years at the Turn-About Ranch, a mental health service in Utah where she claims she was abused.
In April 2021, she launched her OnlyFans account, where she received such wide criticism as the star had only turned 18 the month prior. But regardless of the many’s discomfort with her choice, she earned a whopping $1 million in just 6 hours (beating ex-Disney Channel star Bella Thorne’s previous record), and now sits on a $52 million from her OnlyFans content alone.
Although she is still primarily known for her quip on live TV, the singer/entrepreneur noted that she wanted to be known for her fortune.
Despite all she has achieved, she claimed that her parents still see her as a “disappointment.”
