No matter where in the world you live, London skyscrapers are in a city nearby. But how many do you know that have infinity pools with 360 degree views? Well soon, there will be one in London, England and it will set the standard for future ones to be built I’m sure.

According to Tom Wood (ladbible.com) London is going to get the first skyscraper in the world to have a 360-degree infinity pool at the top of it. Tom is intrigued by this idea but does raise some concerns when it comes to safety. He writes of this: “does anyone really want to swim on the roof of building with the threat of a 55-storey plunge at the turn of every length?” (ladbible.com 1). I have to agree with Tom, this does sound rather scary to think that swimming off the side of the building is a possibility.

Tom Wood goes on to say that this pool will be built using “acrylic plaster instead of glass” (ladbible.com 2). The developer has decided on this because “the material ‘transmits light’ at almost the same wavelength as water, giving you that real feeling that you’re just doggy-paddling around in a 360 rectangle of water” (ladbible.com 2). Compass Pools, the designers of this crazy cool pool, have thought of every detail to make sure the experience of being in this pool is unlike any other.

Developers have even though about how to get in and out of the pool in a revolutionary way. People living in the building and walking through will be able to look up and see people swimming in the pool. But how are they going to get in and out? Developers are “using a design based on a submarine door, anyone wanting to get in or out of the pool will do so using a rotating spiral staircase that will emerge from the bottom of the pool” (ladbible.com 2) And in order to keep the pool heated at the ideal temperature, despite being outside constantly, the “heating system will use waste energy from the building” (ladbible.com 3).

Skyscrapers City

If all goes well, this building with the amazing pool should begin being under-construction next year (ladbible.com 3). This pool is going into an apartment building and I can only imagine how much the rent will be. But the views of the London skyline and beyond will certainly be unmatched to any other building in the city. This is the first building of its kind but will definitely not be the only one ever.

If it is ever open to non-residents, I definitely want to be on that waiting list because this looks so cool and seems like it is one of those once in a lifetime experiences. Pools are definitely part of my summer vacation experience and though London weather is not usually super warm, the views outweigh that. So, if anyone needs me I’ll be packing my bathing suit and my passport!
