Do you ever feel like you’re having a case of the Mondays? Even if it’s not actually Monday? I think we’ve all been there. We do something that is embarrassing or we’re just not fully awake and something goes wrong. Well in Pakistan during their government session, using Facebook Live did not go as well as they would have hoped.
In hopes to reach more people from their homes and make it more convenient so that more people could watch this meeting, the Pakistani government decided to use Facebook Live to broadcast their meeting. Unfortunately, while a nice and helpful gesture, it did not go the way they had intended. According to timw_brap (sickchirpse.com) the “provincial government of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were recently conducing a press briefing held by KP’s Information Minister Shoukat Yousafza. To ensure everyone who wanted to see it was able to do so, the government took the decision to broadcast it on Facebook Live” (sickchirpse.com 1). So, they had the right idea but the execution did not go well, like they had hoped.
The cat filter being turned on is an unfortunate misstep, especially given the live video being from the government. Hopefully whoever made this accident will know how to turn that off before the next session. I certainly hope this does not discourage the government from using Facebook Live again because I believe that is a great tool for them to use. People make mistakes. Broadcasting these sessions though is a great idea so the public who is interested in them can see them. Hopefully, when they start another live video, there will not be too many jokes or memes made about this incident.
