Technology has advanced rapidly since the internet was launched in 1983. AI has now become a foundation in many people’s lives. As of November 20th 2025, ChatGPT has accumulated 800 million active users. However, there has been one company that nobody expected to do well when it came to users using AI. That company is Nvidia.
What is Nvidia?
Nvidia is a company that began as a modern graphics business. Jensen Huang, Chris Malachowsky and Curtis Priem established the company in 1993. They had a vision to incorporate 3D graphics to the gaming and multimedia markets. However, in 2012, they shifted to focussing on the up and coming world of AI.
Since then, Nvidia has made leaps and bounds in the AI industry. In recent news, the company has made headlines due to their computer chips. These have been built to increase the performance of artificial intelligence.
Stock Increases
Recently, Nvidia has been consistently in the news because of their dramatic increase in stocks. They have been the top supplier for chips that are specialised for AI. Their GPU-powered cloud offerings, as well as making headway in the gaming industry. Whilst this has been good for the company, there has been a lot of pressure for them to maintain a good number of stocks and shares. With other successful competitors in the mix, all eyes have been on Nvidia. This is to see whether they will rise or fall.
The company has defied all expectations, and as of the second of December, it remains to be a dominant force in the AI industry. There has been a 62% increase of sales in the last 12 months alone ($57 billion dollars worth). The share prices have also increased. In the last 12 months, on the whole, it has gone up quite dramatically.

In June 2025, Nvidia became the most valuable company. It is worth $3.34 trillion dollars.
Competition with Google
One of the biggest challenges that Nvidia has encountered recently is that Google has also made some chips that serve a similar purpose to theirs.
Many financial papers such as The Economist expected that Google would be a massive thorn in Nvidia’s side. It was reported that Google would sell some of their AI chips to Meta. Meta is Mark Zuckerberg’s company which owns Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. According to a report on November 24th by the Information, this deal between Meta and Google could be worth billions of dollars. This news subsequently made Nvidia’s stock prices fall by 2.5% the day after the report was released.

However, the multitrillion dollar company seemed unfazed, and stated that their technology “is still a full generation ahead of the rest of the industry.”
They further argued that the chips they have created are more powerful and flexible than the ASIC chips that Google have been using. They posted – “NVIDIA offers greater performance, versatility, and fungibility than ASICs.”
Another major aspect of Nvidia’s success in it’s battle against Google is that Google are not selling TPUs to other companies. In comparison, According to CBNC, as of November 26th, analysts have stated that the most valuable company has control of over 90% of the AI chip markets. It seemed that Nvidia have been able to hold their place at the top of the table.

However, Google’s fight isn’t over yet. Their release of Gemini 3 on November 18th has skyrocketed their success. Wall Street has now come out and said that they are backing Google over other competing AI software companies, including OpenAI, Tesla, and…Nvidia. Google’s Gemini 3 beat or equalled ChatGPT in several industry standard tests. These results have led to Google becoming a target for many investors. It is also doing very well in the stock market. It is clear that Google is definitely not backing down.
So, what does this mean for AI?
It is clear that the world of Artificial Intelligence is consistently growing, evolving and improving. As I have mentioned, there is a number of AI focussed companies that are all competing to have the best software possible. This means that a lot of work is going to go into perfecting AI. The possibilities are endless. Nvidia seems to be under a lot of pressure from Google. Will Google be the top AI provider?
It is set to become even more present in our daily lives than it does already. Science News Today predicted in the next decade, AI will play a part in healthcare and “AI-driven knowledge platforms” will replace textbooks in classrooms.
Obviously, none of us know what will happen in the future. Will we be completely self-reliant on AI? What if it all goes horribly wrong? I personally think it will take over the world, but whether that is a positive or negative thing? I guess we will have to wait and see.
