According to Forbes.com, Elon Musk is the third-richest person in the entire world behind Bernard Arnault and Jeff Bezos. With an estimated net worth of nearly $166 billion, you would think Musk would be living it up on one of the hundreds of properties he has accumulated over time. Surprisingly, that assumption would be wrong.

Apparently, according to the owner of Tesla himself, Musk has sold all of his property and moved himself into a $50,000 shack located on the base of SpaceX.

Yup, you heard that right. Elon Musk lives in a shack. Well, not really.

If you took a look inside the miniature home created by the company Boxabl, you’d be pleasantly surprised.

As you can see above, the 400 square foot housing space has everything you need. You have a bed, a couch, TV, sink, kitchen, bathroom, and so on.

Maybe it is just me, but this is awesome. It is essentially your own little studio apartment that you can actually purchase yourself. No renting, just buying. With the housing market being where it is, this “shack” looks like a terrific future investment.

Boxabl has a mission of fixing the housing crisis, and with someone of Musk’s stature staying in one of their homes, the company will likely gain a ton of publicity, in turn getting them closer to their eventual goal.

But back to Musk; I appreciate what he is doing here. He has all the money in the world, but instead of spending it on ridiculous homes, he has decided to allocate his money elsewhere. I guess we will have to wait and see where that “somewhere” is, but hopefully it is rerouted to a place/project that could help out humans: kind of like Boxabl.
