The Red Bull Creepers is a little-known psicobloc climbing competition in which talented climbers must scale the facade of an unconventional- and, generally, very scary-looking- structure.

The 2021 iteration of the unconventional sporting event took place last month in Spain. This year’s scalable structure took the form of the Salamanca Bridge, towering above the currents of the Adaja River. The bridge comes in at a height of 13 meters, comprised of dizzying arches and a tenuous relationship with gravity.

16 climbers (8 male and 8 female) flocked to the location to compete. The Red Bull Creepers 2021 marked the competition’s first occurrence since 2014.

The last time the Red Bull Creepers took place, the 2014 venue was a bridge in Puente la Reina, Spain, with an attendance of over 400.

The victors of the male and female categories were Slovenian siblings Jernej and Julija Kruder, respectively. Jernej’s time for completing the course came in at a staggering 20 seconds. The Kruder siblings’ victory marks the end of former champion Chris Sharma’s reign, following success at the 2014 event.
