Tennis Pro Novak Djokovic Reveals He’s Anti-Vaxx with the Prospect of Coronavirus Vaccine

We’ll find out if this claim has any follow through.

As progress on the COVID-19 front begins to take shape, we may have a viable vaccine against it in the near future.  This development is exactly what most people are asking for, but a prominent anti-vaxxer has spoken out about his opinion on this issue.

Last Sunday, Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic attended a livestream in which he shared his thoughts on a coronavirus vaccine.  This was a Facebook livestream attended by several Serbian athletes.  During the stream, Djokovic expressed his unwillingness to get vaccinated against the virus, even if that becomes a prerequisite professional competition.

While there is no vaccine yet, just the possibility of having to get it is a worry.  Djokovic said,

Personally, I am opposed to vaccination, and I wouldn’t want to be forced by someone to take a vaccine in order to be able to travel.  But if it becomes compulsory, what will happen? I will have to make a decision. I have my own thoughts about the matter, and whether those thoughts will change at some point, I don’t know.

Most likely, a vaccine will not be available for at least a year.  According to Rolling Stone, it’s likely that Djokovic was responding to a tweet by another tennis player, Amelie Mauresmo.

“I think we’re going to have to draw a line under the 2020 tennis season. International circuit = players of all nationalities plus management, spectators and people from the 4 corners of the world who bring these events to life. No vaccine = no tennis.”

As of right now, all professional tennis events have been cancelled through mid-July.
