NFL Week 11 Power Rankings: Time to Take Pittsburgh Seriously

Credit: YouTube/Pittsburgh Steelers

Week 10 is officially over in the NFL. Football was in good hands this week, as the action was filled with close games, decisive victories, and stellar performances, making way for next week’s most compelling slate of matchups.

Here’s a look at where all 32 teams stack up ahead of week 11.

1. Kansas City Chiefs (9-0)

Somehow, the Chiefs remain the lone undefeated team in the NFL. The defending back-to-back champions survived a test against a division foe, blocking the game-winning field goal that would’ve given the Denver Broncos a statement win. Now, the Chiefs sent a statement. Even on your best day, getting over the Chiefs Kingdom might not be enough. Their brand of football is too tough to figure out. The Chiefs travel to Buffalo next week in their season’s biggest test.

2. Detroit Lions (8-1)

No Aidan Hutchinson, no problem. The Lions are continuing to impress, winning their seventh straight game of the season this past Sunday night against the Houston Texans. Detroit, down 23-7 on the road at halftime, stormed back with a shutout second half, pulling off the comeback win 26-23. An off day for Jared Goff (five interceptions), was not enough for the Lions to fold. With continued success, the Lions are solidifying a gap between themselves and the rest of the pack in the NFC.

3. Buffalo Bills (8-2)

It was tight for much of the game, but the Bills managed to secure their fifth victory in a row over the Indianapolis Colts. The Bills had another balanced attack, with seven different receives recording a reception through the air. Josh Allen is quietly having a fantastic season despite not throwing a touchdown on Sunday. With no Amari Cooper or Keon Coleman, he still paced the offense down the field for key game-clinching scores in the fourth quarter. Allen will lead Buffalo into battle with the Chiefs in a potential AFC Championship preview.

4. Pittsburgh Steelers (7-2)

Russell Wilson has been resurrected. Everything looked doom and gloom for Wilson in Denver, but man, his three starts with the Steelers have been different. He may not be as flashy as he used to be, but he is expertly guiding the Steel City into a position where it’s time to take Pittsburgh seriously. In one of the games of the week, the Steelers took the short trip to D.C. to beat another playoff-worthy team, the Washington Commanders. The Steelers get another tough challenge against their rival the Baltimore Ravens. That matchup will play crucial in shaping up the tight division race between both teams.

5. Philadelphia Eagles (7-2)

Anytime the Eagles beat the Dallas Cowboys, it’s a win for the city. The Eagles grabbed their fifth straight win on the road in Texas. Strangely, the Eagles feel like they’ve gone under the radar since the beginning of the season. But, Jalen Hurts is playing well. Saquon Barkley is fitting in swimmingly. And the defense is second in the league in yards allowed. The Eagles have won the games you’d expect, and now, Philadelphia looks forward to a prime-time matchup on Thursday night in a huge division battle against the Commanders. A win there and all the doubts may be gone on whether the Eagles can covet football’s biggest prize.

6. Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens edged out another close win last Thursday over the Cincinnati Bengals. Baltimore is continuing to ride high with two MVP candidates, Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry. Jackson threw for nearly 300 yards and four touchdowns, while Henry continued his streak of scoring at least one touchdown in every game this season. Henry leads all running backs in carries, yards, and touchdowns. We’ll see if Jackson and Henry can continue their backfield magic next week.

7. Minnesota Vikings (7-2)

It wasn’t pretty, but the Vikings squeaked out a 12-7 victory over the lowly Jacksonville Jaguars. Minnesota struggled throughout, failing to turn any drive into touchdowns and kicking themselves in the foot with costly turnovers. Still, one of the surprising teams of the season relied on their stiff defense to badger the Jaguars offense. Statistically, the Vikings are top 10 overall in yards allowed, and second total in rushing defense in particular. They will face their third straight AFC South opponent next week at the Tennessee Titans.

8. Green Bay Packers (6-3)

The Packers had their much-needed bye week. With quarterback Jordan Love still healing and some secondary pieces banged up, Green Bay should head into their football with the Chicago Bears recharged. While Love has had an up-and-down season, their defense and versatility within the offensive scheme have gotten the Packers in a position where they are still considered a solid threat when it’s all said and done.

9. Washington Commanders (7-3)

Besides watching a great game of football, Commanders’ fans have to be kicking themselves for letting their lead fade away at the end. Despite the loss, there are still some positives to take away. Rookie Jayden Daniels continues to not turn the ball over, securing his fifth game in a row with no interceptions. He also leads the Commanders in rushing with 464 yards off his feet. Terry McLaurin is also starting to hit his stride, recording his second 100-yard game in the past three contests. He caught five of his six targets on Sunday for 113 yards. Even with the defeat, Washington has put people on notice that they are a legitimate playoff team.

10. Houston Texans (6-4)

Give props to the Texans. Houston is a banged-up team, but they still were able to gain a 16-point lead going into the break against the NFC best Lions. Unfortunately for the Texans, that 16-point lead quickly turned into a three-point loss. Quarterback C.J. Stroud was still inconsistent in this contest, committing more turnovers than touchdowns, and was pummeled by the Lion’s defensive line. Stroud has been sacked 34 times, second worst amongst all quarterbacks. The Texans hope to snap a two-game skid on Monday Night Football against the Cowboys in an all-Texas football clash.

11. Arizona Cardinals (6-4)

There is something palpable going on in Phoenix. The Cardinals have now won four in a row and had their best all-around game thus far against the Jets. Arizona decisively won, 31-6, and Kyler Murray was sensational in making that happen. Murray completed 91 percent of his passes, good for 266 yards and one touchdown. He then added two touchdowns on the ground. The Cardinals were just dominant in all aspects of the game and now sit in first place in the NFC West. Arizona now gets their rest as they head into a bye week.

12. San Francisco 49ers (5-4)

Christian McCaffery is back. The star running back, played his first game of the season after suffering a bilateral Achilles tendinitis injury. McCaffery finished the day with 109 yards total. He looked great and for the 49ers, this is exactly what they need to try and turn things around. San Francisco won despite kicking woes, clipping the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 23-20. The Niners look to try and build newfound momentum when they go back home to take on the Seattle Seahawks.

13. Denver Broncos (5-5)

Granted, the Broncos haven’t beaten anyone of significance. But a round of applause is for just how close they were to upsetting the best team in the league at Arrowhead Stadium. Bo Nix played an impressive game in such a hostile environment. The rookie tossed two touchdowns and committed no turnovers on the day. He was efficient and showed that the Broncos are a team that can make the playoffs. The Broncos have a date for the Atlanta Falcons, which is coming up.

14. Los Angeles Chargers (6-3)

Similarly to the Broncos, the Chargers haven’t won any standout games. They are 6-3 though, winners of three straight, and they did lose their three games in close, competitive contests. So who’s to say? Maybe the Chargers are legit. For now, though, the Chargers can be happy that they defended their home field with a simple 27-17 win over the struggling Titans. The Chargers continue to be a run-oriented team, carrying the ball 39 times as opposed to Justin Herbert’s 18 passes. They have a compelling match coming up in primetime against the Bengals.

15. Atlanta Falcons (6-4)

In what was a head-scratching loss, the division-leading Falcons surprisingly lost, 20-17, against the reeling New Orleans Saints. Football is unpredictable and for much of the game, the Falcons could not get much going, scoring only seven points against a bad Saints defense. Kirk Cousins impressive streaks of high-yardage games progressed, throwing for 306 yards. Still, he struggled to get Atlanta down the field consistently. Atlanta will try and regroup ahead of their week 11 matchup.

16. Cincinnati Bengals (4-6)

Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase put on a show. Burrow had his best game of the season, going for a season-high 428 yards with four touchdowns on 56 attempts. Meanwhile, Chase had a career game himself, catching 11 passes for 264 yards and three touchdowns. The QB-WR duo is one of the top in the league for a reason and it was on display this past Thursday. However, the Bengals still found themselves in defeat, and now sit two games under .500. Their matchup with the Chargers has turned into a must-win to save their season.

17. Los Angeles Rams (4-5)

The Rams were building something this football session. Winners of three straight. Offense improving with everyone back and healthy. The defense wasn’t letting up, allowing no more than 20 points in that three-game stretch. But then came Monday night. The Rams entered the fourth quarter down 17-6 at home. Despite a fair effort towards the end, the Rams fell to the two-win Miami Dolphins, 23-15. A win would’ve placed the Rams in a tie for the second race in the close NFC West race. Now, Los Angeles has to travel to New England to face the Patriots. A win is needed to keep their playoff hopes alive.

18. Seattle Seahawks (4-5)

Speaking of playoff hopes, the Seahawks desperately need a win. Seattle has lost five out of six and is currently in free fall. Coming out of this past week’s bye, the Seahawks will go on the road to San Francisco, the first of two consecutive division matchups. Wins in at least one of those contests are crucial for the Seahawks to remain in the striking dance of the division and playoff hunt in the NFL.

19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-6)

You have to feel bad for Tampa Bay at this point. Not only are their top two receivers out but now their offensive line is getting bitten with the injury bug. The Bucs are now losers of four in a row and now enter a much-needed bye week to try and get as healthy as possible. Still, it was impressive to see the fight of Tampa Bay within the difficult circumstances they’ve been placed in. Baker Mayfield deserves credit for pacing this team, as he is currently tied for first in touchdown passes. There’s still a lot of football to be played though, as the Bucs remaining schedule after the upcoming bye, is relatively easy, with their last seven opponents combining for a record of 22-45

20. Indianapolis Colts (4-6)

Anthony Richardson is not in the lineup anymore, yet still, the Colts can’t seem to get into a rhythm. The Colts dropped their third in a row, failing to eclipse 20 points for the fifth straight game. Joe Flacco wasn’t awful on Sunday, but he surely wasn’t good. Turnovers were the name of the game for Indy, as the Colts committed four giveaways, one of which was returned on the first offensive play from scrimmage for Indianapolis. The Colts take the trip to MetLife Stadium to take on the New York Jets.

21. Miami Dolphins (3-6)

The Dolphins’ record seems like an outlier. Injuries to quarterback Tua Tagovailoa have halted Miami’s chances of being in a comfortable spot for the postseason. While it may seem like a stretch to say Miami can fight its way back into position, the upcoming schedule is decently favorable to them. A solid win on the road against the Rams could also be a good indicator of what’s to come. If they can stay healthy and continue to ride the wave of an underrated defense, then it wouldn’t be the craziest thing in the world to see the Dolphins hold a wild card spot.

22. Chicago Bears (4-5)

Ever since that devastating Hail Mary lost to the Commanders, the Bears have been in disarray, losing the next two games, to the Cardinals and Patriots, by a combined score of 48-12. The Bears have not scored a touchdown in two weeks, and now sit a game under .500. Chicago seemed to be gaining momentum before the Commander’s loss, but Sunday’s defeat against a bottom-feeder team like the Patriots is cause for major concern. The rumblings are already beginning to start with Head Coach Matt Eberflus, with the Bears now having fired Offensive Coordinator Shane Waldron. Things won’t get easy for the Bears, as seven of their final eight games are against teams with winning records. They will also be playing all six of the division games in that stretch. The Bears are a sinking ship in the NFL.

23. Dallas Cowboys (3-6)

Cooper Rush is not the solution, obviously. The Cowboys are a disaster. With star quarterback Dak Prescott out for the season, the already struggling Cowboys are in a predicament that nobody quite expected heading into the season. They’re 3-6 and there’s little to no faith in a turnaround. Dallas was decimated at home against the Eagles, 34-6, a game where the team only massed 146 yards of total offense. The Cowboys have a primetime showdown coming up with Houston.

24. New York Jets (3-7)

If you want to talk about a disaster of a season, look no further than the Jets. Aaron Rodgers has not been good. The defense has regressed. The weapons that were promised to be reinvigorated earlier in the season are not there. And the addition of DaVante Adams has had no impact. The Jets stink. They’re just a bad football team. The only bright side is the Jets have no more primetime matchups on their schedule. We the fans, win with that.

25. New England Patriots (3-7)

New England might not be that bad. Look, they’re nothing to write home about, but the defense has constantly been a positive. They stifled Caleb Williams with nine sacks, as the Bears only managed three points, On offense, Drake Maye has been okay. He’s a rookie, so of course there are going to be growing pains, but he’s been a solid game manager in his short stint of starts. There’s an upside there and it will be interesting to dissect his progression as the season rolls on.

26. New Orleans Saints (3-7)

The seven-game losing streak has finally come to an end for the Saints. With a coach firing and Derek Carr back in the starting lineup, the Saints upsetter the division-leading Falcons. This was a must-win for New Orleans. They were desperate and anytime there’s a coaching change midseason, two things either happen. The team folds some more and can’t get up. Or, the team rallies behind one another. The Saints chose the latter and did so on the back of an efficient performance by Carr and a restless New Orleans crowd. The Saints have another home matchup coming up this coming week, against the Cleveland Browns.

27. Cleveland Browns (2-7)

The Browns had the week off. In their most recent on-field action, they took home a 17-point loss to the surging Chargers. The Browns now have a winnable contest against the Saints, before a slew of winning opponents. Jameis Winston will get his third start of the season following the season-ending injury to Deshaun Watson. Winston has thrown for 652 yards, five touchdowns,s and three picks in those two games.

28. Carolina Panthers (3-7)

In the international matchup of the week, the Panthers edged out the New York Giants in overtime. Since being reinserted back into the lineup, the former number one overall pick Bryce Young, is 2-0. Granted, those winning football games were against the Saints and Giants, but right now, the Panthers will take just about anything they can get. The real star of the Panthers has been the play of Chuba Hubbard, who finished the day with 153 yards rushing and a touchdown on a heavy load of 28 carries. Carolina will now head into their bye week riding a two-win streak.

29. Jacksonville Jaguars (2-8)

With Trevor Lawrence injured and out, the Jaguars placed former Patriot Mac Jones into the lineup. It didn’t go well. While the defense stayed firm, the offense was non-existent, as a first-quarter touchdown did nothing to fire up the Jaguars. One of the most startling numbers of the game with the Vikings was the time of possession contrast. The Vikings had 42:19 of play on offense, while the Jaguars had only 17:41. There’s no way you can win a football game with those stats. Even with that, Jacksonville did have a chance to pull off the upset, but a nonsensical fight cost the Jaguars a chance at getting the ball back with a minute to go. The Jaguars have fallen time and time again, and now, there’s seemingly no way of getting up.

30. Tennessee Titans (2-7)

Quarterback Will Levis is back from injury and he was right in his return. He didn’t turn the ball over and did throw two touchdowns. However, he did suffer seven sacks, something the Titans could not do at all to the Chargers. Stunningly, the Titans are still the top defense in the league in terms of yards allowed. The Titans will hope to rewrite the script on Sunday against the Vikings.

31. New York Giants (2-8)

Yikes. That’s really all you can say about what is happening with Big Blue. The Giants are an utter travesty going on in football. Daniel Jones is playing terrible football. The defense is trying to carry the load but feasibly can not with just a horrid offensive attack. And the pressure is officially on Brian Daboll. The frustration within the organization is understandable as this has franchised a consistently mediocre football squad. A loss to the Panthers may be one of the final nails in the coffin, with Jones throwing an easy interception on the first play of overtime. Needless to say, this upcoming bye week couldn’t come soon enough.

32. Las Vegas Raiders (2-7)

The Raiders were off this week but that still doesn’t change the fact that there is nothing good to take away from Las Vegas right now. They are justifiably at the bottom of this week’s power rankings. There is no real quarterback and the defense can’t relieve any of the negatives. The only bright side has been the play of rookie tight end Brock Bowers. Bowers is showing glimpses of a top-tier receiver in the NFL. Also, perhaps a number one overall pick is in store for the Raiders.
