Sarah Harding, a member of the super-star UK girl group Girls Aloud, has passed away at just 39 years old after losing her battle with breast cancer.

Harding got her big break back in 2002 on the UK talent show “Popstars: The Rivals.” Girls Aloud was formed on the show and Harding was the last girl to be picked of the five — the other bandmates were Cheryl Tweedy, Nadine Coyle, Nicola Roberts, and Kimberley Walsh.

The girl group had several hits on the charts but broke up in 2013 due to in-fighting amongst the band. During the years since the breakup, the Girls Aloud crew bickered over Twitter and made snide comments during interviews, but once Harding was diagnosed with breast cancer in August of 2020, everything changed for the group. It seemed as though they all finally had a real purpose, and that was to help Harding deal with such a devastating disease.

Earlier in 2021, Harding released her autobiography Hear Me Out where she revealed that Christmas 2020 would probably be her last. And early on September 5, 2021, Harding’s mother shared on her Instagram that she had passed away.

Such a devastating loss to all those around her — Harding will be remembered by all those she knew personally and by the millions of fans she had around the globe. We all hope she can rest easy now that she is finally away from this terrible disease.
