Florida Man Tours Reopened Beaches as Grim Reaper to Promote Social-Distancing

Would that scare you away?

Due to the reopening of beaches in Florida, one man has decided to protest by dressing as the Grim Reaper on the beach.

The beaches were reopened earlier this month by Florida’s Republican governor Ron DeSantis. This move sparked widespread criticism, many calling it too soon, and a danger to public health.

While DeSantis hasn’t been convinced otherwise yet, this Florida man has decided to take a stand.

Daniel Uhlfelder is a Santa Rose Beach based lawyer. He chose the grim reaper costume as a ploy to scare beach-goers into at least following correct social distancing rules. Rather, he would prefer no one went to the beach at all.

In a tweet, he announced his intentions, saying the beach tour would commence on the first of May.

He has also set up a fundraising page. The money raised will be equally distributed to all Democrat politicians that run for congress. Clearly, DeSantis’ beach decision appears to be a Republican move to Uhlfelder.

Earlier this week, Uhlfelder announced that $3,417 had already been raised. His goal is $20,000.

People on twitter have rallied in support of his grim reaper idea.

Though it seems a little counter-productive to go to the very beaches you want people to stop going to, hopefully Uhlfelder’s measures will help people stay safe.
