Change doesn’t always have to be a bad thing. The grass begins to grow green again, and the birds flock back up north.

Change is an indicator of the passage of time. Time that can be well spent growing and reflecting.

Changing your mindset or the way you treat others can be a start to your own story of personal growth and change.

Time to self-reflect

The first step to self-growth is reflection. What about your life needs to change? Is it your lifestyle? The people? Your attitude?

Self-reflection helps you learn more about yourself and your goals. This way, you can discover your true self.

In order to reflect, you may have to do some digging. This can be journaling. Jotting your thoughts down on paper while blasting your favorite playlist. It might be sitting quietly in your room alone. Whatever you feel that helps you get into that mindset.

Once you establish the areas of improvement, you can move to the next step in your personal growth journey.

Creating goals is a great way to measure your progress. In order to create goals, you must establish a timetable, meaning how long you will need to spend in order to reach that goal.

You also must make sure that your goal is obtainable. For example, you can not set a goal to become an Olympic gold medalist if you have never trained in a sport.

Write down your goals. You can create one or multiple goals. Even creating small goals to obtain every day can help you change your mindset.

For example, if you want to spread kindness, a good goal to set would be to compliment a person a day, for example.

Letting go and moving on

Don’t forget about your mistakes. Remember them, so that you do not repeat them.

First, acceptance is the first part of moving forward. Whether this be about a past relationship or a project that went awry, you first have to accept that you can not change the past. Moving forward is the only way you will not dwell on the past and get stuck there forever.

Forgive yourself for these mistakes. Don’t be too hard on yourself.

You can’t change the past, but you direct your future. View the past in a different light. Use it as a stepping stone for what you want to change.

Now that you have taken a look back, it’s time to come back to the present. Keep your focus on the here and now.

Remember to take care of yourself. You should always come first in your journey. Good things take time, and everyone has their own timetable.

Creating new and healthy hobbies can set you on the right track to finding a new love. Try to find something that you’ve always wanted to do, and follow through with it. Whether it be writing a story or picking up a new sport, finding your thing can help you thrive.

Some hobbies that help shape the mind include yoga, reading, learning new languages, writing, and exercising.

Hobbies like yoga and exercise can be taught through online tutorial videos. They are a fun way of learning and motivating yourself to get involved.

Getting into reading can be tough with a busy schedule, but if you set aside time in the day to read just 15 pages right before bed, you can start a healthy habit of reading daily. It is also a great alternative to scrolling on your phone before bed.

Other hobbies to try can include baking, cooking, crocheting, watching films, or scrapbooking.

Hobbies like baking and crocheting can also be taught via videos online. Apps like TikTok and YouTube have a plethora of content that revolves around beginners.

Starting a journal

@witharianne

Replying to @ᶻ 𝗓 𐰁 here’s what I usually write in my journal— I would say everything that crosses my mind but that wouldn’t be so helpful so I listed down some journal prompts and questions I usually ask myself to get started. This is not a strict guideline and you can change them as needed 🫶 hope this helped! Happy journaling! ✨ #journaling #journalprompts #journal

Journaling is a great way to get your thoughts all out. If it’s something that you can’t stop thinking about or something you are excited about, writing it down can help you feel relieved of a situation.

All you need to start journaling is a writing utensil and paper. Give yourself 5-10 minutes a day to just write. The best part about journaling is that there are no perimeters. You can write your thoughts or follow prompts.

Create a routine to stay consistent. Set aside a time in the day to write. To motivate yourself, create a new playlist to play during your writing time.

Don’t worry about missing a day. The best part of journaling is that it will always be there for you.

You can also pair journaling with your goal setting. It is a great place to track your progress.

A Quick Cleanse

To instantly get a satisfactory change, a cleanse can be helpful. A great place to start your cleanse is your room.

Clean the surfaces of your room, like your dressers. Declutter your spaces and desk. Remove unnecessary items and donate them.

The same goes for your closet. Remove clothes that no longer fit or clothes that you don’t wear.

Open the blinds and let the light in.

Take things a step further. If you want to spiritually cleanse your room, use incense. Use room spray to change the smell of your space.

If you want to mix things up, rearrange your furniture. A change of space is a great way to start over.

Fixing your sleep schedule

It’s necessary to get adequate sleep in order to maintain good health. But fixing your sleep schedule is easier said than done.

To start getting consistent, go to sleep every night around the same time. This way, getting up every day at the same time will be an easier transition.

Avoid long naps during the day. Napping will make it more difficult to fall asleep more quickly.

Establish a nighttime routine. This can include showing, reading, or a skincare routine.

Minimize your screen time before bed. It’s a difficult habit to break, but the light from your phone makes it more difficult to fall asleep. Try an alternative, such as reading a book.

Make sure your room is quiet and dark to help you sleep. If you are having difficulty falling asleep, take a walk and return to your bed. Do not resort to scrolling online if you can’t fall asleep

Move your body

Moving your body will help improve your overall health. Not just physical health, but mental health as well.

An easy way to move your body is by taking a walk every day. Even if it’s just a walk to class, you are moving your body in a positive way.

Going to the gym and creating a gym routine is a great way to move. Yoga and dancing are other ways to physically exercise the muscles in your body.

Consistency is key to improving your life. The first step is realizing you want change. You are in control of your life and how you change it for the better.
