Unless you’ve mastered the art of astral projection (projecting your consciousness out from your body so it can wander the stars), your world right now probably doesn’t extend beyond your house and the internet. Perhaps a weekly trip to the supermarket for essential supplies is the only change of scenery you see, or if you’re lucky, the grass of your garden.

With the travel restrictions and lockdown measures still in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic (as they should be), many of us have had their travel radius reduced to that of a medieval peasant. But, fear not, for below is a compilation of the ten best virtual live streams which allow you to travel the world from the comfort of a computer screen, with their links provided:

Every evening, Polar Bears International and Explore.org are streaming the night sky, allowing you to behold the spectacular aurora. Consisting of footage shot over 51 miles of tundra, the hard work from the camera teams brings the northern lights to people around the world. Viewers of the live stream have increased since the onset of the pandemic, itself in the eighth year of operation. Unfortunately, unlike Pullman’s novel of the same name, this live stream won’t act as a portal to a parallel universe.
