Two Aussies Just Birthed An Amazing New Beer Drinking Challenge

Forget the “shoey,” THIS is a real beer challenge.

For those that don’t know, a “shoey” is a fad in Australia in which an individual drinks an alcoholic beverage – most commonly beer – from his/her own shoe or the shoe of a friend. It may sound gross, but that’s just how they do it down in Australia. However, two Aussie gentlemen are confident that they’ve invented an even better beer drinking challenge that will surely dwarf the measly shoey. Introducing the Utey! “Utey” comes from the New Zealand and Australian term “ute” which is an abbreviation for a utility vehicle.

In the TikTok video, Adrian Alaberg (@adrianalaberg) and @captain.australia empty a couple of beers into a bucket before proceeding to pour the alcohol down the bed of their truck into one of their mouths. Not to take the fun out of the performance, but I think we can all agree (or at least, hope) this is display is meant to be more comedic than practical. The main give away is how erratic the stream of alcohol is. By the looks of it, barely any beer actually makes it into Alaberg’s mouth.

But, practical or not, you have to love the enthusiasm of these two. Videos like these are all about showmanship and these guys absolutely nailed it. The real question is are non-Australians allowed to take on the Utey? If so, I need to find a pickup truck ASAP for… reasons.
