To Stay at This Hotel, You’ll Have to Complete an Escape Room First

Sounds like something out of The Shining.

The Clockwork Hotel in Essex is offering a unique adaptation to the usual hotel experience. In order to gain access to your room key, you must first complete an escape room within one hour.

The hotel is fully booked by a party – perfect for big families or stag and hen dos. All of you must work together to solve a series of puzzles. Minimum guest size is 16, maximum 22; with that many brains you’ll be able to solve the escape room. Fingers crossed.

The escape room is described to be made up of ‘fun, Crystal Maze style puzzles,’ which you solve in teams. Plus, you are (thankfully) still allowed to stay the night in the hotel if you don’t solve the escape room in time.

How Much Will It Cost Me?

The price for a one night stay is £110 ph for days between Sunday and Thursday. This rises to £150 on Fridays and Saturdays. This includes hire of the whole hotel, the cost of the escape room, a three course meal, a glass of bubbly and an additional cocktail to go with the meal.

For those looking for a two night stay, prices rise to £175 to £250 per head.

Alongside 11 bedrooms, the hotel offers a spa with a sauna and hot tub. Plus, living spaces with a fireplace and a cocktail bar.

Well, if you are looking for something a bit different, this is the place to go. An excellent idea if you need an icebreaker for a work trip, or for family you haven’t seen in a while.
