I don’t know about you, but I’m in desperate need of a vacation. Looking at pictures of the Maldives-inspired overwater bungalows at Stella Island Resort in Crete, Greece has me daydreaming of an Oceanside getaway.
The luxury five-star resort opened in 2017, surrounding itself with as much crystal-clear water as possible. The lagoon-style pools encompass the entire resort, and will “make you feel cosy and stress-free,” according to the website.
Stella Island Resort’s 225 rooms are adults-only. Each villa has a double bed, walk-in shower, Veranda deck leading to the lagoon, and hammock. Some villas even have a Jacuzzi for added relaxation.
I can only imagine the sanctuary the spa offers for those looking to really wind down. But the resort also offers water sports, scuba diving, horseback riding, and many more activities, in case you are looking for a less relaxing and more action-packed vacation.
A night spent in an overwater bungalow in the Maldives can cost thousands of dollars. Stella Island Resort charges anywhere from $150-$260 a night depending on whether you choose half board or all inclusive. Compare that to the $2,430 it takes to stay at the Maldive’s Water Villa at Cheval Blanc Randheli.
