Users of Reddit asked the question: ‘Tattoo artists of Reddit, what’s the worst/weirdest tattoo you’ve ever given someone?’ The responses were … unique.
This is a common question tattoo artists get asked by their clients, but, while they may not want to worry the customer they are actively tattooing, online, they can share all their horror stories.
What responses did the thread get?
One user, whose profile is now deleted, said: “When I got my tattoo done, I asked my artist this while he was setting up. He said that he had a woman who wanted him to mix her brother’s ashes in with the ink. Needless to say, he didn’t do it.”
If that isn’t bad enough, @sub16bmi replied to this user’s comment with a similar story: “My ex-neighbor had her dog & husband’s ashes mixed into her tattoo, which was a teardrop beneath her eye.”
Everyone processes grief differently, but, wow! That’s commitment.
On the funny side of weird, @xPhantom13x once witnessed “a tattoo of two chickens fighting with lightsabers go down” while they were working as an apprentice.
On the less funny side, a deleted user once tattooed a client with “a map of a prison.” I wonder what the backstory there was.
@Notoolinthispool shared this story to the thread: “Not a tattoo artist, but while I was at the tattoo shop with a friend, an older woman came in and asked for a portrait of her grandson to be tattooed on her breast.”
We all have different relationships with our family, but does anyone else this is a bit weird? There are plenty of other places she could have put that tattoo…
Have any tattoos gone wrong?
@Trengroove told the story of a pretty decent tattoo that was ruined by a small mistake.
“Not a tattoo artist, but a friend has a naughts and crosses game tattooed on his leg, however, the resulting combination of Xs and Os is impossible. I give him shit for it every time he wears shorts. There are 3 Xs which are forming a winning diagonal line, and 4 Os scattered elsewhere. The game should have ended at the third X, meaning there is no way a 4th O should have been played.”
