Typically on someone’s birthday, they get flooded with texts, phone calls, and even e-mails wishing them a good day. Whether it’s from relatives or friends, the point still remains that loved ones will reach out to let you know they were glad you were born. Still, I doubt any of those loved ones ever expect their message to be turned into an animated short.
Unfortunately for the dad of animator Garrett Lewis, he did exactly that.
Now I am sure that Lewis’s father was fine with what his son made. First of all, it is impressive in it of itself. Secondly, the clip is only nine seconds. And finally, it is just straight up hilarious.
The mannerisms that Lewis gives the bird are sensational. While he’s on the phone, he keeps looking in the side mirror of the car checking himself out. Pretty good, but the cherry on top has to be when the birds eyes pop out of its head hoping he got his son’s birthday right.
In a way, Lewis’s father gave him a birthday present by sending him a quick little voicemail. He may have gotten him a physical gift as well, but without his phone call we would all be deprived of this funny little clip.
And like I said earlier, this type of animation is really impressive. I can’t imagine making something like this video, even though it is less than 10 seconds long.
I’m sure if I took classes on animation and such I’d be able to create something, but I think I will stick with writing. I will leave the animation to the professionals like Lewis.
