Reddit user’s theory about how Lil Nas X must have survived Thanos’ infamous snap has the performer thrilled.
Lil Nas X has had anything but a simple career. He’s suffered backlash from homophobic haters, as well as concerns about his collaboration with Nike creating ‘Satan Shoes‘ that contained real blood. But nothing can bring the singer down as he learns that he’s one of the lucky people to canonically be a member of the MCU, and that he survived the Blip that wiped out half the universe.
Reddit user LegendofConner spotted an easter egg in Marvel’s most recent feature film Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings. The user spotted that in the film (set in 2023), two characters sing karaoke to Nil Nas X’s Old Town Road, a song which was released in 2019, a year after the snap. So for the character’s to be able to sing karaoke to the song, Lil Nas X must have had to have survived the snap in 2018 to release the song in 2019.
The Reddit user ended the post saying “Idk, just thought it was a cool detail, I love adding to the cannon of who got snapped and who didn’t.” And clearly other fans do too. The theory quickly took Twitter by storm with fans claiming that “Lil Nas X is more powerful than Thanos.”

This must have been a refreshing change for Lil Nas X from the homophobic hate he receives, and he was clearly thrilled by the discovery, tweeting the post with the simple caption “Oh S**t.”Which I think we can all agree would be our reaction as well.

Now that Lil Nas X has something else to add to his CV, there’s no telling what he’ll be able to do next.
