With 18% of single people admitting to comfort eating over Valentine’s, Uber Eats want to cheer them up with a tasty kebab offer.

Last Valentine’s Day recorded that Uber Eats’ most popular order on the day of love was a solitary doner kebab sandwich. In order to brighten up singletons, Valentine’s this year and rid of them of the usual woes of spending it alone, the food sharing app has introduced a new offer giving customers a discount on their couples kebabs, providing it is shared with a friend.

The five-day promotional campaign will start on February 14th and be offering to buy one get one free deal on not only kebabs but other selected meals across restaurants in the UK.

Uber Eats General Manager Toussaint Wattinne said in a press release: “This year we want to make Valentine’s period all about celebrating friendship and love whether you are in a relationship or not.”

“So if you’re still holding out for your soulmate or simply want to show your friends how much you care, ditch the single doner kebab and enjoy two meals for the price of one with your bestie.”

Research by the Office for National Statistics reveals a mega 49% of the UK’s population are either single, divorced or widowed and and Uber Eats survey claims that 33% of people say they would rather spend Valentine’s Day with friends instead!

It would seem Uber Eats therefore may be on to something and hey if you don’t have anyone to share the day with, an offer on some tasty food sounds like a pretty good compromise!

And if the traditional kebab isn’t your thing you might want to try these tasty treats out!
